Beetles in Rhode Island

Rhode Island does not have too many documented beetle species; however, the emerald ash borer requires mention among the ones present. It has been an invasive species here since 2018, emerging as an annoying pest from that time, particularly to ash trees.

The endangered American burying beetle present in this state, becol3s five other states, has been designated as Rhode Island’s state insect since 2015.

The state even houses several other beetle species, including those belonging to the longhorn, leaf, and scarab beetle families.
