A few beetle species have constantly plagued West Virginia, the Asian long-horned beetle is one of them, a significant threat to maple, ash, hemlock, and elm trees. Other common pests here include species of the leaf beetle family, the wood boring beetles, and even the big Japanese beetle. The smaller carpet beetles are a menace to homes.
