Maine has several beetles inhabiting throughout, with most of them being invasive. The  Japanese beetle active during the May-August span mainly infests lawns and gardens, causing damage to trees and plants. The big Asian long-horned beetle, mostly attacking hardwood trees like willow, birch, and maple is present in Maine but not in significant numbers. The northeastern pine sawyer, confused with the Asian long-horned, and the white-spotted pine sawyer also dwell here, especially near pine trees but are mild pests.

Then, there are many house beetles, too, such as the large larder beetle found incol3 stored food in the kitchen or cellar, among other things. The carpet beetles may look small in size but cause immense damage to fabrics, upholstered furniture, and so on.
